the “milk crate” design allows penetration of the sand or other fill medium to enclose all cavities around the spacers so as to minimise 'hot spots'

conduits are held secure during fill so that at any time after the installation it will be possible to more easily excavate, identify and branch into a targeted existing conduit

if necessary a metallic 'audit strip' can be installed on each bank of spacers to achieve detection from above the filled trench by the customer
